How to Build a Supercomputer
Gary Burton will talk to us about High Performance Computing, with specific reference to the High Performance Computing cluster at Portsmouth University, which he supports. The cluster is called "Sciama" after the British physicist "Dennis Sciama".
At the time of the talk Sciama will be enjoying its fifth birthday:

The talk will discuss commodity clusters in general and how they deal with multithreaded and distributed processing. It will also discuss the concept of login and compute servers and shared storage. Finally how a typical job is submitted and executed within a cluster environment.
